What it is

Vascular tone is the constricted or relaxed state of blood vessels. Vasodilation widens vessels and lowers systemic vascular resistance.^[1,2]

Why it matters

Changing vessel radius changes outlet resistance, so tone directly affects pressure and tissue blood flow.^[2,1]

Root causes of abnormal values

• Core relation: When vessels constrict, the outlet narrows and resistance rises; when vessels dilate too much, resistance falls and pressure can drop.^[2,1]

What it affects

• It links autonomic reflexes, vascular resistance, blood pressure, temperature, stress, and medication context.^[1]

Interpretation traps

• BioConst does not infer personal vessel tone from a single blood-pressure reading.^[1]
